P.E. at Maxwell
Here at Maxwell I want the kids to really love their time in the gym. I think by doing different sports and activities each class makes them excited to come and see what we are doing. I use a district- wide curriculum developed by Dr. Beighle who was my professor at the University of Kentucky. We use a four-part lesson. The first part is the Intro, which is normally a silly activity that gets the students moving. The next part is the Fitness, which is the part of the lesson where we work on different fitness activities. The third part of lesson is the Focus. This the main point of the lesson. It could be basketball skills or even something as simple as using loco-motors through space. The last part of the lesson is the Game. We play a game that sometimes is related to the focus and sometimes it is totally different. I want the kids to leave the gym having had fun but also getting quality exercise.
